Character design and character illustrations or pinups can vary in price depending upon character complexity, artistic freedom, overall completion ( shading or flats ), prop usage and simplified backgrounds, apparel or interior design, character count, etc.
Character designs are for individuals who want the artist to make something totally unique to them as the customer. It will function as a reference and design all in one. For character designs, the price can heavily fluctuate depending on the complexity as well as the desired amounts of views. Designs come with a base of just one view. If front and back images are wanted, or additional addons and headshots, the price begins to follow the "Reference Sheet" pricing instead.
Character pinups and illustrations are the most popular service bought from the artist. They can be flat colors or soft shaded and may be present with colored line-art or black, solid line-art.
If a customer wants the artist to fully design a character for them, it will be priced according to reference prices and done in a reference format, unless the customer prefers a 'cookie cutter' line-art to be used or if they prefer a design to be done through colored sketch. Keep in mind that designs will typically run more expensive due to the fact that the artist is tasked with creating an entire IP entity for the customer to use on their own will.
